IPMI Requirements in vCenter 5.0

Greetings,

We are chasing down the use of IPMI with in our organization in response to a CERT security bulletin - TA13-207A: IPMI TechAlert. I see where IPMI can be used on the host with regard to SNMP, but is it used for any communication between hosts and vCenter? One area it is used in is DPM for clusters, but are there any others? I am thinking perhaps the hardware status tab?
